Health, Vaccination & Equipment Standards

Last updated: March 2025

1. Mandatory Health Certification

To protect all animals on the Platform and comply with interstate transport laws, every pet must have a valid Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI).

  • Timing: The CVI must be signed by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of the scheduled pickup date.
  • Submission: A digital copy or clear photo of the CVI must be sent to the driver through our messenger prior to transport.
  • Michigan Compliance: For pets entering or leaving Michigan, owners must ensure compliance with MDARD requirements for specific species (e.g., negative Coggins test for horses).

2. Vaccination Requirements

Pet Owners warrant that the pet is current on all core vaccinations. Minimum requirements for transport include:

  • Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough).
  • Cats: Rabies and FVRCP.

Parasite Warranty: Pet Owners confirm that the pet is free of internal and external parasites (fleas, ticks, worms). If a Transporter discovers an infestation, the Pet Owner is liable for a $150 vehicle sanitation fee.

3. The Travel Kit

It is the Pet Owner's responsibility to provide a complete travel kit to the Transporter at pickup, which must include:

  • Food: Enough food for the duration of the trip, plus a 2-day surplus in case of transit delays.
  • Medication: All necessary medications in their original prescription bottles with clear dosing instructions.
  • Familiarity Items: One small blanket or toy that smells like home to reduce transport stress.
  • Identification: The pet must wear a secure collar with a physical ID tag containing the Pet Owner's current phone number.

4. Crate & Restraint Standards

All pets must be transported in a secure, well-ventilated enclosure.

  • Owner-Provided Crates: Must be IATA-compliant or heavy-duty plastic/wire, sized so the pet can stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
  • Transporter-Provided Crates: If a Transporter provides the crate, it must be sanitized with a pet-safe disinfectant between every job.
  • Restraint Policy: Pets may not be free-roaming in the vehicle. They must be crated or secured via a crash-tested safety harness.

5. “At-Risk” & Special Needs Pets

  • Brachycephalic Breeds: Owners of snub-nosed breeds (Pugs, Bulldogs, etc.) acknowledge the increased respiratory risks of transport. Transporters must provide continuous climate control (AC) for these breeds.
  • Puppies/Kittens: No animal under 8 weeks of age is permitted on the Platform.
  • Aggressive Animals: Pet Owners must disclose any history of aggression. Failure to disclose a “bite risk” pet is grounds for immediate cancellation without a refund of the booking fee.

6. Emergency Protocols

Secondary Contact: Pet Owners must provide an Emergency Backup Contact (friend or family member) located within the U.S. who is authorized to make medical decisions if the primary owner is unreachable.

Vet Authorization: By booking a transport, the Pet Owner authorizes the Transporter to seek emergency veterinary care if the pet's life is at risk. Costs incurred will be the responsibility of the Pet Owner, subject to the $2,000 Pet Protection Plan guidelines.
