How We Keep Your Pet Safe
Every driver on Ferried is verified before they can accept a single transport. Your payment is protected until you confirm delivery. Here's exactly how it works.
Driver verification process
Every driver must complete the following steps before their account is activated and before they can submit bids on transport requests. There are no exceptions.
Identity verification
Drivers submit a government-issued photo ID. The name, photo, and ID number are verified before the account is activated. The person who shows up at your door is the person whose profile you reviewed.
Criminal background check
A full criminal background check is run on every driver applicant. Drivers with disqualifying criminal history are not approved.
Driving record review
Driving records are checked for serious violations. Safe driving history is a condition of approval.
Vehicle review
Drivers provide documentation of their vehicle. Only suitable, climate-controlled vehicles are accepted for pet transport.
Profile and review system
After every completed transport, the pet owner leaves a review. Reviews are verified — only owners whose transport completed can leave a review. You can read every driver's full history before booking.
Payment protection
- When is payment charged?
- Payment is charged when you confirm your booking — after you've chosen a driver, reviewed their profile, and accepted their bid. You are never charged before you decide.
- Where does the money go?
- Your payment is held by the platform after booking. The driver does not receive any funds until after the transport is complete and you confirm your pet arrived safely.
- When is the driver paid?
- After you confirm delivery in the app, payment is released to the driver within 24 hours via Stripe. If you do not confirm, payment is not released until the matter is resolved.
- What if something goes wrong?
- If there is a dispute — the pet was not delivered, or the transport did not go as agreed — Ferried's support team is involved before payment is released. You are not expected to simply release payment if delivery did not occur as agreed.

Every transport booked through Ferried includes $2,000 pet protection at no additional cost. This is not a separate product you opt into — it applies automatically to every booking.

During transport
Location check-ins
Drivers send GPS location check-ins through the app during the trip. You can see where your pet is at the driver's check-in points throughout the journey.
Photo updates
Drivers are required to send photo updates at regular intervals. You can also request updates at any time through in-app messaging.
Direct messaging
You communicate directly with your driver — no dispatch middleman. Ask questions, share instructions, or check in at any time.
Rest stops
Drivers take regular rest stops for water, walks (for dogs), and breaks. Pets are never left unattended. Overnight stops use pet-friendly accommodation.
