This Privacy Policy describes how Ferried, LLC (“Ferried,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a Michigan-based company, collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our platform at getferried.com (the “Platform”).

1. Information We Collect

Account Data: When you register as a Pet Owner or Transporter, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.

Transporter Verification: To ensure safety, we collect driver's license information and social security numbers from Transporters to conduct mandatory third-party background screenings.

Payment Information: All financial transactions are processed via Stripe. Ferried does not store full credit card numbers or bank login credentials on our servers; this data is handled securely by Stripe under their own privacy standards.

Pet Details: We collect photos, medical certifications, and temperament descriptions of the animals being transported.

2. Real-Time Location & Tracking

GPS Data: Transporters may be required to share their location via the Platform during an active Job. This data is shared only with the specific Pet Owner for that transaction and is deactivated once the transport is confirmed as delivered.

Photo Evidence: We collect and store photos taken at pickup and drop-off to verify the condition of the pet and the completion of the service.

3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform, analyze usage, and deliver relevant advertising. By using the Platform, you consent to the use of these tools as described below.

Essential Cookies: Required for the Platform to function. These enable core features like user authentication, session management, and booking flows. They cannot be disabled.

Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the Platform — pages visited, time spent, and referral sources. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.

Advertising & Retargeting: We use Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) and Google Ads tracking to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and, where applicable, to show Ferried ads to people who have previously visited the Platform. These tools may place cookies on your device to recognize you across websites.

Managing Cookies: You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling non-essential cookies may affect parts of the Platform but will not prevent you from using core features. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising at aboutads.info.

4. How We Share Your Information

Between Users: We share limited contact info (first name, phone number) between a Pet Owner and a Transporter only after a booking is confirmed to facilitate the hand-off.

Service Providers: We share data with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as background checks (e.g., Checkr) and payment processing (Stripe).

Legal Compliance: We may disclose information to Michigan law enforcement or federal authorities if required by a subpoena, or if we believe it is necessary to prevent physical harm or financial loss in cases of pet theft or fraud.

5. Data Security & Retention

SSL Encryption: We use industry-standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to protect data during transmission.

Retention Schedule: We retain data according to the following schedule:

  • Active accounts: Data is retained for the life of the account.
  • Closed accounts: Personal profile data (name, email, phone) is deleted or anonymized within 90 days of a verified account closure request.
  • Transaction records: Booking history, payment records, and associated communications are retained for 7 years to comply with IRS requirements and Michigan tax law.
  • Background check data: Retained per Checkr's data retention policies and applicable FCRA requirements.
  • Pickup/delivery photos: Retained for 2 years, then permanently deleted.

6. Your Rights & Choices

Marketing Emails: You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe.” You will still receive transactional emails (booking confirmations, support updates).

Access & Correction: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct inaccurate information, by contacting support@getferried.com.

Account Deletion: You may request to close your account by contacting support@getferried.com. Upon verification, personal profile data will be deleted or anonymized within 90 days. Transaction records are retained as described above. We cannot delete data we are legally required to keep.

Do Not Sell: Ferried does not sell your personal information to third parties. Advertising pixels (Meta, Google) share browsing behavior with those platforms for ad targeting purposes — you may opt out of this via your browser or the tools described in Section 3.

7. Children's Privacy

Ferried is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. If we discover we have collected data from a minor, it will be deleted immediately.
